Hello there! I’m Florence Love Karsner, author of several published novels, including an Amazon #1 Best Seller, Tobacco Rose. I also wrote four novels in The Highland Healer Series as well as two other historical fiction novels in the Dr. Molly McCormick series, titled We All Have Secrets and Even Saints Have Secrets.
You will often see an ouroboros symbol at the beginning of my novels. An ouroboros is a serpent devouring its own tail. History tells us that Asclepius, an ancient Greek God of Medicine, believed that serpents had healing powers and that a bite from one could heal a wound or cure a disease. Thus, the symbol represents healing and resonates with me because of my passion and experience in the medical field.
Thank you for your interest in my work. I hope you enjoy reading my novels as much as I enjoy writing them.

This novel is an Amazon #1 Best Seller! The story begins in South Georgia 1955. Racial tensions lead to riots in the South. An old, black woman named Rosie and a young, white girl called Clementine are in danger of losing their lives in a flood. Caught up in swirling waters teeming with moccasins, dead animal carcasses and debris, they must get to higher ground to survive.
Check out my #1 Best Seller on Amazon: Tobacco Rose. This novel takes place in 1955 South Georgia during a flood, and follows the trials of an old black woman and a young white girl who must fight for survival. Join Rosie as she weaves the tale of her Gullah-Geechee slave ancestors. The tale teaches Clementine valuable lessons about resilience and family values. This heartwarming story is perfect for anyone looking to gain a new appreciation for life and people around them.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts in a review. This feedback helps me focus on areas where I can improve my writing.
They struggle to save themselves as well as a motherless child and a crippled young man. During the long frightful night of the flood, Rosie takes Clementine on a mental journey as she tells the heart-wrenching tale of Kadie, her Gullah/Geechee ancestor who was kidnapped and brought to America on a slave-trading ship in the late 1700s. The tale touches Clementine’s soul, providing valuable lessons she will take to heart as she commits to learn about her own people.
Were they resilient, intelligent, people with strong family values as Rosie’s were? Is there a “Kadie” in her history? A lifelong friendship is formed in this unlikely pair, and a thirst for knowledge and an appreciation of life is instilled in a young girl who wished only to hurry through life and grow up.
This novel was a finalist in the Florida Writer’s Association contest. The setting for this historical fiction piece is an island off the coast of Florida in 1962 . . . during the Cuban Missile Crisis period. A young, female physician is attacked by a deranged psychiatric patient. She escapes with her life but is left with disturbing physical scars and devastating psychological ones as well.
She recovers at her grandfather’s lighthouse home on this same island. But her issues may be secondary as another terrifying event looms on the horizon. Fidel Castro is threatening to launch missiles from Cuba—missiles pointed at the United States—the Cuban Missile Crisis is heating up.
My novel, We All Have Secrets—a finalist in the Florida Writers Association contest— takes place on an island off the Southwest coast of Florida.
The physician’s grandfather, a retired U.S. Navy Captain, a “covert spy,” is called upon to participate in a secret operation that puts Molly and others in peril. Finally, a young Catholic priest adds an element of surprise to the tale.
He’s taking a sabbatical, but what is his true reason for being on the island of Cayo Canna? What begins as a period of recovery for the young physician may evolve into a time of death, heartbreak, and loss. After all . . . her attacker is still out there!
1962. Having survived two attempts on her life, Dr. Molly McCormick is determined to “re-engage” and set up her physician practice on the island of Cayo Canna where she lives with her grandfather, Papa Jack, a retired Navy intelligence officer. However, when a dead body is discovered beneath a dock on the island, Dr. McCormick is pressed to act as the medical examiner/investigator to discover who and what caused this death.
The Cuban Missile Crisis has resolved. Fidel Castro has agreed to remove all nuclear warheads from the island of Cuba within a few days of signing the agreement with President Kennedy. However, some weeks later, a spy plane confirms launching hatches that appear to be suspicious.
Florence Love Karsner is a Registered Nurse and Clinical Research Professional. When not being captured by her muse, she enjoys creating pottery, skeet shooting, and playing golf.
So, in addition to a dead body having been discovered, it appears the Cuban Missile Crisis may not be over as previously thought. That means Papa Jack cannot assist Molly in her investigation as he will be tasked with another black ops assignment on the island of Cuba.
Finally, Father Patrick O’Brien, the priest who killed the patient who attacked Molly, has his own crises to deal with.
He returns to Ireland where he has unfinished business with the Church and others that is weighing on his conscience; but his head and his heart often find themselves in disagreement and he has some difficult decisions to make.

This third novel in the Highland Healer Series presents a bit of Scottish romance and a few touches of magickal realism bring about unexpected twists and turns…
In this prequel to the series,
we learn of a young girl named Ci-Cero
whose destiny was determined eonsago.
Did you know that the serpent is a symbol of healing? In ancient Greece, the serpent was associated with Asclepius, the God of Medicine, who believed serpents had healing powers and could cure a patient or wounded person just by touching them. The serpent is also connected to pharmacology and antisepsis, as they carry an antivenom against their own poison.
